Here’s what you might not know… summer cooking and entertaining couldn”t be easier.  You don’t need to lug around big grills and coolers or show up with the ubiquitous pita chips and hummus.  You can be creative and delicious with a quick trip to visit us at the Mill City farmers market or Midtown Global Market. It’s easy.

1. Get yourself a spectacular rustic baguette (or 3) from Salty Tart.

2. Find and procure 3 fresh, soft and tasty cheeses. (We got ours, Northern Lights Blue, Donney Chevre and Quark, from Grass Roots Gourmet @ Midtown.  You can also pick up great cheese at Mill City. We recommend Big Woods Blue and Hidden Falls from Shepherd”s Way.)

3. Pick up whatever fresh fruit or raw or quickly cooked vegetables that speak to you. (Might want to pick up some amazing single source honey while you”re at the markets too!)

4. When you get back home, gather together the rest of your ingredients. You”re looking to add ingredients that both contrast and compliment each other. It doesn”t need to be anything terribly involved you’re just trying to match savory, sweet & tart flavors to come up with tastes that are fun and yummy.

5. Heat up your oven to 400°f. Slice the baguette diagonally. Brush baguette slices with olive oil and toast in the oven until brown.

6. Mix and match your cheeses, produce and spices. Then you”ll have a meal to eat or take that”s fresh and tasty.
